The Place of Landscape : Concepts, Contexts, Studies

Description

This volume explores the conceptual "topography" of landscape: It examines the character of landscape as itself a mode of place as well as the modes of place that appear in relation to landscape.Leading scholars from a range of disciplines explore the concept of landscape, including its supposed relation to the spectatorial, its character as time-space, its relation to indigenous notions of "country," and its liminality. They examine landscape as it appears within a variety of contexts, from geography through photography and garden history to theology; and more specific studies look at the forms of landscape in medieval landscape painting, film and television, and in relation to national identity. The essays demonstrate that the study of landscape cannot be restricted to any one genre, cannot be taken as the exclusive province of any one discipline, and cannot be exhausted by any single form of analysis. What the place of landscape now evokes is itself a wide-ranging terrain encompassing issues concerning the nature of place, of human being in place, and of the structures that shape such being and are shaped by it.

When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armour and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death? The wonderful world of Jacqueline Wilson is waiting for you to colour it in! Unleash your creativity and lose yourself in this beautiful colouring book bursting with Nick Sharratt's inspirational illustrations of Jacqueline's larger-than-life characters. This is the perfect gift for any Jacqueline Wilson fan. "A Wild Photo History...It presents arresting photos ...and shows [Pantera's] playful side both on and offstage." --Rolling Stone "One of the most visually stunning and comprehensive documentations of a band put to print, close to 400 pages of images that will excite and awe. --Clrvynt "A Pantera fan's wet dream...Painstakingly great care was taken when compiling this book...As a huge fan of Dimebag I found it especially poignant flipping through the images of the sorely-missed guitar god...This is a fantastic release The Place of Landscape : Concepts, Contexts, Studies free pdf and a must-have for fans of Pantera; your collection is NOT complete until this is sitting on your coffee table for all to see." --Pure Grain Audio "This gorgeous book is wonderfully put together and an essential way for fans to stay connected to the legacy of a great band." --Ghost Cult "[Giron's] Pantera photos offer more than just a gallery of eye-popping rock photography, but a spontaneous and unguarded chronicle of how four kids from the South became one of the biggest bands in American metal, from their lean and hungry origins in Dallas, to playing in front of half a million screaming Russians in Moscow, to their final tour."
